Rings

Oh snap! Today is Friday the 13th!

Bonus Fun Fact: The fear or avoidance of the number 13 is called triskaidekaphobia. The opposite, for people like my wife who love the number 13, would then be triskaidekaphilia.

Also, and equally timely…

Bonus Bonus Fun Fact: Tomorrow, October 14th, there will be an annular solar eclipse visible across much of North America. The best viewing of the eclipse will be in the southeast United States and Mexico, but a partial eclipse will be visible most everywhere else. For Midwesterners, the eclipse should start around 10:30 and be done by noon (central time). If it’s not overcast and rainy, be sure to check it out!

Bonus Bonus Bonus Fun Fact: It’s called an annular solar eclipse because of its shape, not because it is a yearly/annual occurrence. Annulus and annular come from the Latin word for something ring-shaped. An annular solar eclipse is where the Moon only partially covers the Sun, creating a ring-shape of light.
