It’s a cliche, but I guess everything does work out in the end.
Bonus Fun Fact: I got a job and I’m very excited about it!
I’m pleased to announce that I’ve accepted a position to go back to Pheasants Forever as the Prescribed Burn Coordinator in Minnesota. In this job I’ll be working with partners and producers to get more and better prescribed fire on the landscape. It will be a statewide job and I’ll be based out of Mankato in southwest Minnesota. It is the kind of job that I’ve been looking for for a long time.
You may have keyed in on the Minnesota part, which means I will be leaving Iowa. It will be a pretty significant life change and transition considering I’ve lived in Council Bluffs for a little over 20 years. Michelle will stay in her job here while I live up there and come back as much as I can. We’ll reevaluate our situation next summer. It will certainly be different and I am very thankful to have such a supportive lifemate.

One thing is for sure though, I am very much looking forward to doing work that matters again. Pheasants Forever is a great company and I am happy they are letting me come back. I love working with landowners and I really love talking to them about prescribed fire. The whole thing is pretty surreal considering how it’s worked out. It’s been exciting, nerve wracking, and I can’t wait. My first day is January 3rd.
Have a great holiday!
