Bonus (not so) Fun Fact: The world’s population was projected to reach 8 billion humans on November 15, 2022. I say projected because it’s all statistics — we don’t have a running count of every individual born every second. Instead, this figure was estimated in this years’ World Population Prospects report written by the United Nations. They have a pretty good handle on things like this.

More humans means an ever-increasing demand on the world. Humans want things. This puts a strain on our natural resources and environment, and comes at the expense of the other animals and plants whom we share the planet with. 

If you are able to do so, consume less and don’t have kids. That’s the best way to help. If you do have kids, instill in them a sense of love for the planet and help them be good stewards of the world in the future.
