Armyworm onslaught

Apparently, people are freaking out about armyworms this year. I am not much of the agronomist type, so I wasn’t even aware it was a thing until people started asking me about it. I really don’t have any answers, honestly. The armyworm is a native to the subtropical southeast and is a pest that eats perennial plants. They especially like to eat lawn turfgrasses, which will probably make my wife very happy inside.

Lawns suck, people.

Bonus Fun Fact: Armyworms cannot overwinter in the harsh climate of Iowa. They may be bad this year, but the whole population will be wiped out with the first hard freeze. That’s good news at least. As the only useful piece of information I currently know about armyworms, I’m going to use it to calm the panic where I can.
