Last Thursday, my wife was at a nature education program for her work. I met her there to go out for supper afterwards. Not wanting to disturb, I sat out in the hallway and listened in while idly browsing the interwebs on my phone (as you do). What I heard was shocking.
Bonus Fun Fact: The skin of the mango fruit contains the same rash-causing oil as in poison ivy. Urushiol, the irritating chemical found in poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac leaves, can cause contact dermatitis (a rash) for those allergic to it. This also goes for mangos. While there isn’t as much of the chemical in mango skin, there is enough to trigger an allergic reaction for those that peel or eat the skin.
As someone that is highly allergic to poison ivy, and apparently mangos now, this terrifies me.

Bonus Bonus Fun Fact: The plural of mango can be either mangos or mangoes. If you choose the latter, you may find it’s fun to pronounce it man-go-eys.
