Three-wheeling

If you didn’t know, my wife and I are the proud dog parents of two corgis.

Look at these cute things:

The one in green (left) is Tody and the one in red (right) is Tanis.

Earlier this week there was a mishap where Tody broke the two middle toes on one of her front feet. While we were walking, her leash got hooked on a rickety retaining wall and pulled one of the blocks off onto her. There was a lot of yelping and I felt very bad. In fact, I still feel very bad.

Anyway, now we have a dog with a club foot.

Bonus Fun Fact: Dogs and cats with three legs (due to amputation or other condition resulting in a missing wheel) are commonly referred to as ‘tripawds’. There is a very good website devoted to the care of tripawds at tripawds.com. Four-legged friends can easily learn to operate on three legs and, with a little care, typically lead the same lives their four-legged counterparts do. Good thing they carry a spare with them!

Bonus Bonus Fun Fact: The plural of corgi can be either corgis or, less commonly, corgen.
