Bonus Fun Facts

Towards the end of 2018, I was told that my emails are boring. They were right, of course. Each week I would send an email that contained my office schedule to my co-workers. This way they knew where I was and, in the event of a habitat emergency, they could get a hold of me. It was a practical means of communicating my whereabouts but, on the whole, not very exciting. That’s what they said anyway.

And so I started to include informational snippets that I called Bonus Fun Facts. Not very original, I know, but originality wasn’t the point. The point was to entertain and share knowledge on a topic that I knew something about, or had recently learned of.

For something so dumb in concept, my Bonus Fun Facts have been very well received. I write them mostly on topics relating to the natural world, although I throw in other topics on occasion. My office mates often comment on them and I have people receiving my weekly schedule who I’ve never even worked with. I can only imagine that this must be what success feels like.

The Bonus Fun Facts have now become an ongoing pursuit and that’s the reason I’ve created this blog. My intent is to post them here, to store for internet posterity, and also to share with a wider audience, if such an audience happens upon them.

I hope you enjoy them.
