February, the short month

Bonus Fun Fact: Ever wonder why February is the only month with 28 days? It’s because of the Romans! Back in the day, the Romans had a calendar with only 304 days over 10 months. Apparently, nobody cared enough about winter to name that time period; they just let it slide by and hoped they didn’t freeze to death. It wasn’t until 713 BC that they decided it was a bad idea and tacked on two more months to account for winter — January and February. February was the last month added, so it was shorted on days, resulting in a 355 day calendar. As we know now, this didn’t sync up with the seasons very well. The calendar went through many iterations and adjustments over the years until the year 46 BC, when Julius Caesar implemented the 365 day calendar with a leap year that we know and love today. Hail Caesar!
